The richness of our terroirs & Grand Crus

A very special relationship between the men and the land

Turckheim benefits from a privileged geographical position. Situated on the double fault line of the Alsace Plain and the Valley of Munster, it possesses an impressive variety of soils and some outstanding lieux dits (named-place vineyard plots). These exceptional terroirs provide the ideal conditions for the great grape varieties of Alsace to flourish, attaining their full potential. Since the founding days of the Cave de Turckheim, we have worked together to select these terroirs and transform this heritage into a wide palette of characters in our wines.

  • Grand Cru Brand

    Grand Cru Brand

Overlooking the medieval town of Turckheim, the granitic Grand Cru Brand enjoys an exceptionally sunny aspect. It is upon this "earth of fire" that legend situates the battle between the sun and a dragon. Their combat set fire to the forested hillside and the following spring the vineyard appeared. This impressive terroir produces majestic wines of great delicacy.

  • Grand Cru Hengst

    Grand Cru Hengst

Situated in Wintzenheim and stretching along a quite steep slope, the Grand Cru Hengst enjoys a south-southeast aspect. Its geological composition, consisting of Oligocene conglomerates and chalky marls, gives very heavy clayey soils which confer a solid and very robust character upon the wine.

  • Grand Cru Sommerberg

    Grand Cru Sommerberg

This terroir occupies a very steeply sloping hillside that faces south towards the commune of Niedermorschwihr. Composed of granitic arenas it is particularly well suited to the cultivation of Riesling and Pinot Gris grapes. The terroir facilitates the production of lustrous wines that express the character of the grape varieties; robust and iridescent.

  • Grand Cru Ollwiller

    Grand Cru Ollwiller

Situated at the foot of the Vieil Armand in the commune of Wuenheim, this sandy-clayey Grand Cru forms part of one of the driest microclimates in France, producing deep and delicate wines. In the image of the heavy soil in which the vines grow, the wines are rich with power and force.
